13-STORY TOWER WILL BRING MICRO APARTMENTS TO DOWNTOWN CINCINNATI
The mid-rise apartment tower that is under construction at Eighth and Main streets in downtown Cincinnati has a new name.
Developers North American Properties and NorthPointe Group have named the apartment project the Blonde. Previously known as 8th and Main, this 13-story, 125-unit apartment building is on track to open in mid- to late summer.
Jim Hobson, director of residential asset management for downtown-based North American Properties, said even though coronavirus has impacted many businesses, construction has continued on the mid-rise apartment tower.
“I give credit to the Al Neyer team, especially since the pandemic has gone out,” Hobson told me. “They have done a fantastic job being able to hold the line and get it delivered thus far.”
The Blonde marks the fifth apartment project the two developers have worked on together in the Central Business District. Hobson said with this project, they realized all of the new apartment development coming to the urban core was disproportionately focused on the empty nester demographic, which commands a higher price point. With the Blonde, they wanted to build a mid-rise product that would have price points with broader appeal.
